Director of Human Resources
(Salary Range $152,200 - $174,600 per year)
We’re looking for an accomplished human resource professional to provide strategic leadership of the City’s HR function. As a key member of the senior management team, you will drive progressive, people-focused initiatives and policies that advance organizational priorities while fostering a respectful, inclusive, and high‑performing workplace. This role oversees a broad portfolio including labour relations, collective bargaining, disability management, health and safety, compensation and benefits, recruitment, training and organizational development.
The Director serves as a trusted advisor and key business partner to leadership, providing sound guidance and strategic insight on a variety of workplace and organization issues. A skilled relationship builder, you will work collaboratively with departments to ensure consistency and compliance with legislative and legal requirements, collective agreement obligations, and human-resource best practices.
This position requires superior persuasive, negotiation, consultation and interpersonal skills along with advanced expertise in employment and labour law, legal precedents, and occupational health and safety legislation. Ideally, you hold a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, labour relations or a related discipline and hold, or be eligible for, the Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation. You have at least ten years of progressively responsible experience in a unionized setting including five years in a similar senior role. Significant experience leading collective bargaining and successfully implementing a broad range of corporate initiatives and workforce strategies is essential.
